Today's Stats:
Breakfast
I was not at all displeased with her blood glucose reading, considering that she didn't receive any of her diabetic medications last night, since she didn't eat. In fact, I was elated. Her blood pressure looked good, too, good enough to give her 2.5 mg of lisinopril.
Lunch
Well, I obviously and inadvertently overdosed her on metformin at breakfast, and I am so pleased to know this! Something good is happening, I think. I hope it continues! As well, it looks as though the 2.5 mg lisinopril may have been a slight overdose, as well, since her BP was perfect at breakfast and a little shy and divided at lunch. Hurrah! Maybe things are beginning to take a turn for the better! Yes! I suppose I shouldn't get too excited, yet, but my specialty is over excitement, so, why not!?!
Dinner
Well, I accidentally deleted this one on July 9, 2004. I was able to recreate the stats part. I don't remember what I wrote, though, except that I'm sure it had something to do with how thrilled I was about her blood sugar, and that I mentioned something about why I figured this was happening, but didn't actually want to say anything, yet, because I'm not completely sure, yet. This should cover it.

Niferex-150 [150 mg elemental iron] | 1 hour before breakfast | to pull her out of what I hope is her temporarily severely anemic state |

Protonix/40 mg | 1 pill at least 1/2 hour pre-meal | standard pre-breakfast med |

lisinopril/2.5 mg | 1/2 tab with meal | looked like her blood pressure might be able to handle it |

Daily Senior Multivitamin | with breakfast | standard breakfast supplement |
folic acid/400 mcg | with breakfast | standard breakfast supplement |
1/4 cup pure cranberry juice w/12 oz water | after breakfast | standard after breakfast supplement |
Conspicuously Absent Meds & Supplements | ||
Med/Dose | Administration | Explanation |
aspirin/81 mg | 1 tab with breakfast | Has not been receiving this, per doctor's orders, since 6/18/04; he feels that, if she is bleeding internally intermittently, the aspirin, being a blood thinner, will increase the blood flow, and this is a higher risk to take, right now, than protecting her against strokes, including mini-strokes |
vitamin E/400 IU | with meal | standard breakfast supplement; temporarily deleted to due physician request regarding concern about it interacting with the iron and some of her other meds |
garlic/1250 mg | with meal | can function as an anticoagulant, thus I've nixed this medication, for the time being |
