Today's Stats:
Breakfast
Nothing unusual about breakfast, today, especially considering that we've been observing late days, recently. We're back to bacon and oat bran toast so her midday blood sugar readings should go down. As well, I expect her to be up all day today. There's a program on at 2200 tonight that she's interested in watching, so we'll be gearing the day toward this.
Lunch
She's doing very well on this lunch and enjoys it so, while she's not moving much, I won't be varying it. Her blood pressure was well within it's normal lunch time range. Had we waited an hour (she ate lunch an hour earlier than usual relative to breakfast, but she was hungry and there didn't seem to be a reason to wait) she probably would have been in the 130s. I swear, medical research needs to address the fact that elderly diabetics who develop reduced sensitivity to insulin as a result of old organs. This isn't yet being done and I'll be damned if I'll administer insulin to my mother when her body will take her blood sugar down just about as quickly as a shot of insulin will, without the possibility of a blood sugar crash. Medical people, are you listening?
Dinner
I was a little surprised at her blood pressure, but she didn't have a nap, today, and was very animated (but not necessarily movement oriented) all day. She stayed up from a little before 1300 until a little after midnight...a stretch on 11 hours with her eyes constantly open and her brain consciously activated. Good show.
The dessert was an afterthought which came to me as I was ridding the refrigerator of stuff that was beginning to lose it's recognition factor. I decided I'd better do something with the raspberry sauce I unfroze on Thanksgiving besides refreeze it. The dessert was a hit. Because it was a whipped dessert it appeared to be "more" than it was. In the two cup serving she got less than a cup of "goods" but felt as though she was indulging in sin. I actually wasn't able to eat more than half of my portion but she polished hers off with gusto. The perfect dessert, I'd say.
