I've been willingly negligent...
...about keeping up with stats since, my goodness, since November 3rd! The few I've taken are as follows:
November 2, 2006
Breakfasts have been normal with the substitution of Panettone or Blueberry Bread w/sprinkled cinnamon for toast, except for Saturday. I noticed some unusually luscious looking yeast rolls containing apple slices and walnuts on sale and bought some, served her a roll for breakfast and froze the rest.
Lunches have been typical: Either V-8 juice w/1 tsp curry powder and peanuts; or coffee and peanuts, or, occasionally, if she's not hungry and awaiting what she imagines will be a rip-roaring dinner, just coffee and dinner a little earlier than usual.
Let's see. We've had for dinner during this period (not in order): Two Left-Over-From-the-Freezer nights; Fake Costco Sushi night, which included three pieces of chocolate candy; Kentucky Fried Chicken night; Carl's Junior Jalapeno Burger night.
Bowel movements have regularly been every other day, from very good to good; always excellent consistency and easy elimination and clean-up. She had one yesterday, so today will probably be a Bowel-Movement-Free Day.
No detours off her usual medication schedule.
Awakening times have been somewhat earlier. On Saturday, when I arrived home from Costco at 1115, she was up, dressed, at the table reading her gossip tabloids and nursing a glass of water. She said she'd been up for "about a half hour". She had not remembered that I had planned an early trip to Costco but, she said, "I knew you'd be home soon. You always are." She's typically been rising anywhere from, hmmm...I guess that day she probably arose at about 1045, to around 1400, depending on how late she retired; mostly, though, around noon, which has been a surprise. She's been having multiple nights of going to bed around 0030, then arising to go to the bathroom and staying up to read in bed for awhile. Last night her light didn't go off, officially, until 0230. I was already in bed but the sudden darkness of the hall roused me and I looked at the clock.
Not much walkering to speak of, although she's been up and around in the house a fair amount. I tried to get her to go with me on errands on Friday and Sunday, but she wasn't having any. She is excellent humor, though, doing fine. We've begun reading a new book in the evening, are continuing with the "Sister Wendy" series about art, and, at Mom's frequent suggestions, considering what we could bring to MPS's on Thanksgiving as appetizers.
Maybe I'll restart stats today. Maybe I won't. I haven't decided. I'm noticing, though, in recollection, that whether or not I take stats seems to have no effect on our day or Mom's health. Last night I pondered this from the point of view of a commercial for a diabetic testing meter that called such meters, in general, "life-lines". Hmmm..., I thought. Not in this household, not from what I've discovered in the last few days. In this household, the life-line is love and companionship. How scandalous to the diabetic community would this observation about geriatric diabetes be if it got out!?! I do know that I'll let her sleep until 1400, if she's of a mind to.
