That's right, late start to the day, mainly because I had a very late end to yesterday and slept in until 1100 this morning. I needed my coffee, so I waited until noon to awaken Mom. She was sitting on the edge of her bed when I entered her room. Blood sugar looks good.

Well, obviously, we had the heartiness of dinner for lunch, today, because I am intending that we'll have a Just Desserts dinner of pumpkin cheesecake with homemade raspberry-maple sauce.
I'm expecting her blood sugar reading to be high when I take it before we eat our Just Desserts dinner, because she hasn't taken any diabetic medication since breakfast. She will, however, be receiving her medication with dinner, so I also expect her blood sugar to be politely normal in the morning; although, if it is a bit high, it won't surprise me...there's a lot of sugar in both the cheesecake and the raspberry-maple sauce. It make take awhile for her Ancient body to work this off.

Dinner:  2130  & Meds
What she ate:  1/2 of a Costco sized pumpkin cheesecake dressed with approx 1/3 cup raspberry-maple sauce
Med/Dose Administration Explanation
100% Aloe Vera gel/1 oz just before meal helps increase the cells' sensitivity to insulin when used with glipizide
36 mg Iron Protein Succinylate 2 18 mg tabs with meal to pull her out of what I hope is her temporarily severely anemic state

calcium-vitamin D/500-200 mg with meal believed to be an osteoporosis preventative

I told my mother (because she takes an interest in her blood sugar and blood pressure readings), just before I took her blood sugar for this meal, that I expected it to be "between 160 & 180". It came in exactly between the two. I expected this because it had only been about three hours since she had last eaten and that meal had a higher amount of refined carbohydrates (the macaroni) than is normal for any meal in this house.
I'm very pleased with her blood pressure. I caught her while she was deeply involved in a Deep Space 9 episode and off oxygen (I mention this for my reference), thus she was extremely relaxed and concentrating on something that kept her from moving too much, talking to the cat or talking to me. Despite her blood pressure, her feet were, again, the tiniest bit swollen, but she didn't hack/cough today at all, so I think they were swollen because she was up on them more than has been lately normal.
