1/4 cup pure cranberry juice w/12 oz water with or after meal standard once a day supplement for kidney protection and enhancement of waste management

Since I'm still on my "Labor Day Holiday", I allowed her to wake up at her pleasure. In fact, at about 0950 I left to do a short errand and she was at the edge of her bed, ready to start her day, when I got back.
I'm assuming her BP is up because of the antibiotics and the UTI. I was suprised to discover that as of 9/2/04 no bacteria showed up in her urine, although white blood cells did. I assume this was the beginning of her UTI, so it may not be E. Coli, this time. I'm sure, though, that the bleeding was from some sort of infection because the antibiotics stopped the bleeding within less than 24 hours. Hopefully, her PCP will take another urinalysis on 9/8/04, when we have an appointment scheduled.     Otherwise, she ate well, seemed in good humor, then as digestion set in decided she was going to take a nap, which I nixed. Not until after lunch, I told her.
As of this writing she actually hasn't consumed the cranberry juice, yet, but she'll be drinking it while she exercises, which we'll be doing in about a quarter hour.

Lunch
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1523
    Reading:  125
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1530
    BP:  93/49
    Pulse:  72

Lunch:  1540  & Meds
What she ate:  an entire 3.5 oz bag of microwave popcorn
11.5 oz V-8 juice with 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Med/Dose Administration Explanation
18 mg Iron Protein Succinylate 1 18 mg tab with meal to pull her out of what I hope is her temporarily severely anemic state
vitamin C/500 mg 1/2 1000 mg tab with iron supplement helps the body metabolize iron

I think her blood glucose was high because, well, I think I may have forgotten to give her glipizide ER this morning. As soon as I read her numbers I had deja vu of the napkin upon which I dole her pills sitting there without the glipizide, and another of handing her the "important pills" to take just before eating, of which there were two, today, and I clearly remember putting the aspirin out. I also remember, as I was studying the pills after placing them on the napkin, that something appeared to be missing, but I couldn't figure out what it was. So I guess the glipizide was missing. Considering this, her blood glucose actually looks quite good.
I believe her BP was low because of the combination of the lisinopril and the heavy duty exercise session just before lunch. That is one thing about my mother's blood pressure: It operates just like it's supposed to when exercising; it goes down instead of up.
Anyway, when it came time for the feed, she said she wasn't hungry, but I needed to get something in her to help her digest the Iron Protein Succinylate (which, unlike other iron supplements, works best with food). So, I tempted her with popcorn and V-8 juice, and it worked.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1953
    Reading:  118
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1959
    BP:  115/56
    Pulse:  63

Dinner:  2000  & Meds
What she ate:  Almost two cups of macaroni and cheese with added hamburger, green pepper, onion and celery
a dinner salad of fresh vegetables and greens with approx 2 Tbl homemade Ranch dressing
Med/Dose Administration Explanation
100% Aloe Vera gel/1 oz just before meal helps increase the cells' sensitivity to insulin
36 mg Iron Protein Succinylate 2 18 mg tabs with meal to pull her out of what I hope is her temporarily severely anemic state
vitamin C/500 mg 1/2 1000 mg tab with iron supplement helps the body metabolize iron
glipizide ER/10 mg 1 pill with meal standard breakfast and dinner med to increase cells' sensitivity to insulin
vitamin E/400 IU with meal given for anti-coagulant properties
garlic/1250 mg with meal given for anti-coagulant properties
calcium-vitamin D/500-200 mg with meal believed to be an osteoporosis preventative

She was hungry enough this evening to eat a hearty helping (which she requested, I am pleased to note) of macaroni and cheese with lots of meat and vegetables in it and all her salad. Her blood glucose was good, especially considering that she only got one dose of glipizide ER today. Her blood pressure was right on the money for her. As well, she didn't over sleep today, even though I was willing to allow her to do so. I have no complaints, worries or criticisms, tonight.
