    Breakfast: Normal.
    Nap: Very short: 1630-1700.
Lunch: V-8 juice w/1 tsp curry powder and peanuts.
Dinner: Carl's Junior $6.00 jalapeno burgers w/onion rings.
Her knee was significantly better, today. We walkered in the house; four laps back and forth from the kitchen to the back Arcadia door. I decided to keep her off the concrete driveway because it requires a bit more knee mobility than walkering in the house. She also was much more mobile today on her own.
Her Bowel Movement occurred during her bathing: Very good volume; good consistency; very easy elimination; slightly challenging clean-up.
She retired at 2355. Her light went out at 0030, 10/1/06.

Breakfast: Normal. One 200 mg ibuprofen for knee.
Lunch: V-8 juice w/1 tsp curry powder and peanuts.
Dinner: Left over pizza, frozen from a couple of nights ago. One 200 mg ibuprofen for knee.
    Nap: 1700 - 1800.
Retired: 2330. Lights out: 0000, 9/30/06.     For the last two nights we've dispensed with rubbing down her right leg. Her knee has been bothering her and me rubbing and moving her leg around has bothered her. We've tried it both nights, but given up...tonight we gave up and I raised her knee to put it on my thigh.

Well, the candy from last night clearly showed up in her BG, today, although not bad...enough, I think, to guarantee that her HA1c will be more to the doctor's liking next appointment; enough so that we'll probably do sweets in an every-other-day mode through the holidays, depending on movement. We'll see how it goes.
As well, the vigorous movement at Bashford Court yesterday wore her out, so the situation this morning was: "How about another hour?" when I went in to awaken her at 1230. I gave her this, then, when I went in at 1330, she asked for "a little more time". I gave her until 1400. Still, it was hard to even get her hand over the edge of the bed for BG testing, as you can see. But, we had a good day, although low key.
Breakfast: Substitution of left over corned beef hash for bacon.
Nap: Yes, I allowed one. She was only down for a bit less than an hour from 1730 - 1815. When she awoke, she had somehow compromised her right knee and was finding it difficult to walk. I fastened the heavy duty knee brace on her, helped her into the living room, gave her lunch and, since her knee was obviously suffering (I could see a bright red pressure bruise on the inside of her knee), with her lunch, V-8 juice with 1 tsp curry powder and peanuts, I gave her a 200 mg ibuprofen.
I didn't worry about getting her into and out of the bathroom every two hours. I knew the two pairs of paper underwear would "catch all falling stars".
Dinner: Fake sushi, this time with little shrimps on top of half of them, plenty of soy sauce and plenty of spicy ginger Asian dressing with a slice of honeydew melon to chase the wasabi on the shrimp sushi. Also gave her another 200 mg ibuprofen at this time, after trying her on standing up and discovering that, while better, her knee was still pretty iffy.
Her Bowel Movement occurred at 1430, right after she went into the bathroom for bathing: Fairly poor volume; excellent consistency; very easy elimination; very easy clean-up.
She retired at 2330, as usual. Her light went out at 0015, 9/20/06. She asked me to "let her sleep in" tomorrow. I'll check on her 1300 and we'll take it from there. I'm curious to see if we'll get out in the yard, tomorrow. Didn't happen today, which is probably just as well.

Today included some activity: We finally made it to Bashford Courts and visited three gift stores, none of which, not even the Mountain Christmas store, had much in the way of Christmas decorations. The activity included a fair amount of walkering and negotiating a staircase of four steps, as well as a curb step. Mom did really well, all things considered. I was pleased. So was she.
Breakfast: Normal all the way around.
    Lunch: Coffee and peanuts.
Dinner: Baked salmon with basil butter and lemon juice and rotini salad which included cheese stuffed rotini, artichokes, grape tomatoes, Bermuda onion, feta cheese, Parmesan cheese, chopped green olives, celery and a very light herb dressing. Once again, tonight, I allowed her three pieces of chocolate candy, one from each package.
Her nap lasted exactly two hours, from 1700 - 1900.
She retired at 0000, 9/28/06. Her light has not yet gone out. I'll report back. Light out at 0030.

That's right, folks, today was primarily a sleep day for Mom. Final recovery from the shots and the muscle pushing of Sunday, I guess. I allowed it.
    Breakfast: Completely normal.
Lunch: None, since she spent most of the day sleeping.
Dinner: A hearty rotini/artichoke/olive/feta & Parmesan cheese salad with corned beef added.
By bedtime she seems to be pretty revived and lively. She retired at 2350. Her light went out at 0015, 9/27/06.

This morning when I awoke Mom, there was dried blood all over her pillow case, some on her sheet, some had been smeared on her wall (she often holds up the wall when she's sleeping) and a great deal around her nose. Almost immediately I realized what had happened. Yesterday, in the afternoon and late in the evening, I had given her adult buffered aspirin to help alleviate the stiffness and muscle soreness from all the standing/sitting and walkering she'd done during our flu shot shuffle. We've also been talking about how we need to cut her fingernails because they were getting so long, but she's actually refused this because she likes the look of her nails when their long, over the tips of her fingers. I know that she often awakens during the night and blows her nose, then digs around in their. When her nails are long, this tends to break blood vessels. The combination of her nails and the aspirin did a number on her last night and she managed to scratch the hell out of her inner nose. With all that aspirin under her belt, her blood was thin enough so she bled a noticeable amount. She was in no discomfort, her nose was not particularly sensitive this morning, and she was none the weaker for the loss, which looked pretty spectacular but ultimately amounted to quite a bit less than is taken when her blood is drawn for a CBC. At any rate, I cut her fingernails right then and there and decided, no aspirin today, not even her usual 81 mg dose at breakfast.
She was lagging from her shots, today. I recognized the symptoms from six years ago when she last had both the flu and pneumonia shots at the same time. She complained of thigh and calf muscle soreness, as well. So, we I saw to it that we had an easy day of it.
I awoke her at 1300, giving her an extra hour of night sleep.
    Breakfast: Completely normal.
She napped from 1630 - 1930 and arose on her her own. The worst of her muscle soreness was just coming on, but subsided throughout the evening as she arose to do minor things like go to the bathroom and throw tissues away.
She refused lunch; just wanted coffee.
Thus, I purposely saw to it that we ate dinner by 2100: Home made corned beef hash with sauteed onions and garlic added, seasoned with a mixture of four peppercorn pepper and Herbes de Provence. [For my own reference: 2 lb corned beef, freshly simmerered; 1 very large potato; 1 medium yellow onion; 2 cloves garlic]
Her Bowel Movement occurred at 1515; Very good volume; good consistency; very easy elimination; slightly challenging clean-up.
She retired at 2350. Light went out at 0030, 9/26/06.

Breakfast: Didn't actually take place until about 1615 this afternoon because of our Flu Shot Shuffle, which you can read about in my post at the main journal for today: Scrambled egg with sausage with sauteed onion and green pepper and MPBIL's Southerwestern Fire seasoning; 1/8 of a honeydew melon; 1 piece high fiber, low sugar, whole wheat bread.
Lunch, which was actually breakfast, which took place at about 1400 afte we realized we were going to be in line for shots for awhile: Two black plumbs and a 16 oz cup of decaf coffee.
Dinner took place at about 2130: Home made tuna fish sandwiches on Sweet Bavarian Dark bread.
Today included more than a fair amount of walkering and standing up and sitting down while we waited for innoculations.
Retired at 2335. Light hasn't yet gone out as of this writing. Will check back when it goes out. Light out at 2358.
