Today's Stats:

BM Breakfast
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1110
    Reading:  105
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1110
    BP:  119/61
    Pulse:  71

These were taken after she'd been relaxing on the toilet, naked, in the sauna hot bathroom for about 10 minutes. Nice readings. No, I didn't give her a 3rd lisinopril/2.5 mg.
I did, this morning, give her one extra strength acetaminophen. She was actually complainin about her knees bothering her. Sometimes, even when I can tell they're sensitive, she'll tell me, point blank, that they aren't bothering her. Funny what one gets used to after being around 87+ years.
We had a normal breakfast with a new homemade bread, Russian Kulich, which includes an egg in the dough, almond flavoring, chopped dried cranberries and chopped macadamia nuts. A little more sugar, too, than usual.     Her Bowel Movement occurred at about 1130. I think it was the first of at least two. Fair volume; excellent consistency; easy elimination; easy clean-up.
I picked up rib-eye steaks for our holiday dinner this weekend, whenever we have it. I also need to make a tomato bisquit pie before the tomatoes are too dry to use in it. Although, that might be good. Anyway, I also got a cheesecake and a container of Black Tie Cherries. Half the cheesecake will be covered with Black Tie Cherries. The other half will be covered with my raspberry sauce. I'll sprinkle it with melted chocolate, or even chocolate ganache. maybe we'll have my onion peas in Greek dressing; maybe ham & cheese au gratin. Still need to go to the grocery, though.
I may serve her Black Tie Cherries for lunch, today. She's still on Levaquin, so she'll be getting that, too.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1937
    Reading:  172
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1937
    BP:  122/61
    Pulse:  65

Didn't take any lunch stats, today...can't remember why.
Her high blood glucose is from the Black Tie Cherries I gave her for lunch (probably about 10) along with 11.5 oz V-8 juice, two slices of sharp yellow cheddar cheese and a thin slice of the Russian Kulich bread. Lunch was at 1645; she took a late nap today, wasn't hungry before but was after. So, three hours (or less) later, her system was still blissing out on the Black Tie Cherries. Despite what fruit can do to her blood sugar, she loves fruit and, in season, I like to give it to her. Her blood sugar is not going to suddenly seize her body in a diabetic choke hold...she doesn't have that kind of diabetes and, anyway, she hasn't had it long enough for this to happen. And, the antioxidants, the extra liquid and the pleasure it gives her are all worth it.

Today's Stats:

Breakfast
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  0958
    Reading:  145
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  0957
    BP:  105/58
    Pulse:  64

Excellent blood pressure; taken on the toilet while she was awaiting her bath. Her blood glucose surprised me. I guess it's the antibiotics. Oh, well. It's only a 7 day course.     Hearty appetite this morning: Ham and eggs for breakfast with toast out of homemade partial wheat buttermilk bread.

Lunch
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1730
    Reading:  83
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1729
    BP:  104/51
    Pulse:  63

She got her Levaquin today at lunch, along with a fresh peach, four jalapeno stuffed olives, 11.5 oz V-8 juice and two slices of sharp yellow cheddar cheese. She took an early, long nap, but seems alert, though slow, this evening.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2024
    Reading:  147
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2021
    BP:  128/64
    Pulse:  64

Blood Glucose is good for having been taken 3 hours after lunch, which included a peach. Blood pressure is excellent from the point of view of taking lisinopril. I think she'll only need one dose of 2.5 mg lisinopril.
I made fresh blueberry cobbler today and we decided that's all we'd eat for dinner. She asked for it a la lemon sorbet, which I did. It'll be interesting how her body works out the blood glucose by tomorrow.

Today's Stats:

Breakfast
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1548
    Reading:  97
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1548
    BP:  110/63
    Pulse:  66

Yep, that's right, a very late arising today. Both stats were taken about 45 minutes after she opened her eyes and headed for the edge of the bed; which she was in the bathroom resting on the stool, awaiting bathing. Even in the heat of the bathroom she mentioned she felt "a little cool". I meant to take her temperature but forgot. Her urine was still slightly bloody. She was, however, very alert, not groggy as she sometimes is when sleeping for so long. So, she must have needed it.
I dispensed with her iron supplement (and her multi-vitamin, just in case) this morning in favor of 500 mg Levaquin, dispensed as two 250 mg tablets administered with "breakfast", which exactly matched her first dose 24 hours previous.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2055
    Reading:  140
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2054
    BP:  118/62
    Pulse:  63

Blood Glucose is normal for having had breakfast so soon before dinner and snacking (on a peach) in between. I decided to go for only one 2.5 mg lisinopril last night. Her blood pressure is doing fine.

Today's Stats:

BM
Her Bowel Movement occurred between 1245 and 1300. Easy, though long elimination...really cleaned her out. A little looser than usual; probably because of the generic Colace I gave her Sunday and Saturday nights. Didn't give her any last night. Easy but messy clean-up. Excellent volume.

UTI
This one sneaked up on us. She was bleeding from the urinary tract this afternoon when she awoke from her nap. I had one refill left on her Levaquin, so I started her on 500 mg/once per day for seven days.
No wonder she was having a hard time recuperating from the trip and the visit. She's probably been brewing this one all weekend. I noticed a fishy smell yesterday, but no cloudy urine, not even today, despite the fact that it was definitely bloody.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2036
    Reading:  192
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2035
    BP:  135/62
    Pulse:  66

I have no idea why her BG is so high. She's eaten relatively light, today. Breakfast was normal. She had three thin slices of olive loaf and 11.5 oz V-8 juice for lunch. She did have a piece of home made wheat germ bread, fresh out of the bread machine, about an hour after lunch. And, I did administer her Levaquin at lunch. Oh well. I'll keep on eye on things. Usually, regardless of what she's eaten, by dinner she is either at or approaching normal.
I forgot to check her blood pressure before going to bed, which she did about 2230, not falling to sleep until around 2300. So, I'll aim for tomorrow.

Today's Stats:

BM No Breakfast Stats
Her Bowel Movement occurred soon after she awoke and went into the bathroom. It happened quickly; by 0900 she was done. I asked her if it had been "easy".
"It wasn't uncomfortable or hard, just a lot."
There was a lot, but normal for an every-other-day bowel movement. Clean-up was a breeze.
I am going to try to hone in on lunch stats, this week, especially since we have some fresh peaches to which her blood chemistry seems to reacting well. She had ham and eggs for breakfast this morning. I was surprised how early she was up...completely on her own. When I discovered her she was already upright on her bed.
She is, however, now, taking a nap. "You know," she volunteered, "everything is just go, go, go," she moves her arms vigorously as though race walking; it is funny that she is saying this because she was no more or less energetic, energized or awake than if we had been without visitors; "and then you need a couple of days to catch up." She drooped dramatically as she said this.
I guess, for my mother, this is true.

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1840
    Reading:  131
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1843
    BP:  147/64
    Pulse:  63

I know her BG seems high for dinner, but it's actually good, considering that a little over a half hour before I took her stats she sneaked a piece of freshly baked 100% whole wheat bread.
I decided to give her one lisinopril at dinner and see how her blood pressure shakes out just before she goes to bed.

Bedtime
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  Not Taken
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2207
    BP:  110/58
    Pulse:  61

Considering her blood pressure reading, I decided not to give her the extra lisinopril pill. I'm not sure how I'm going to get that third one in without causing a blood pressure crash. I'll see how things go over the next few days.

Today's Stats:

Breakfast
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  0837
    Reading:  143
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  0850
    BP:  140/70
    Pulse:  66

That high BG reading up there means that she was still savoring the good sized piece of chocolate cake (it's finally gone) she had last night with French Vanilla ice cream.
Her blood pressure is sitting-upright-for-the-first-time-in-several-hours good. Better than normal.
She had two berry buckwheat pancakes this morning, with three pieces of bacon and a fair amount of syrup. And butter. She was in seventh heaven and mentioned several times that MPS & Niece must come to visit "more often".

Dinner
Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1837
    Reading:  126
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1836
    BP:  147/66
    Pulse:  60

Better, compared with this morning's stats and very good considering that she had a fresh, sweet peach and two pieces of toast (with cinnamon) for lunch. I haven't begun the third lisinopril pill in the evening, yet. I also gave her a dose of generic Colace this evening, as I did last evening. I'm going to try to avoid more rock shit if it's the last thing I do. I intend to use the Colace as a temporary, short term measure.

Breakfast Stat:

Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1153
    Reading:  101
Blood Pressure:
    No longer taken at this
    time unless necessary

This is the only stat taken today. I gave her a Colace in the evening, to see if we can avoid the rock shit syndrome when she next has a bowel movement.
