Despite the fact that it was yet another unusually short day for Mom. Good mood, though, excellent mood, in fact.
Yes, ham for breakfast with her egg and, being Easter weekend, it's also officially Scone weekend so, this morning, again, she had a scone instead of toast. This morning it was a lemon/current/spelt scone. That's "s-p-e-l-t". Click the link and you'll find out what it is.
Again, a light lunch: V-8 juice and peanuts. The second iron pill has become habit, now.
Exactly the same dinner tonight as last night, even though I'd planned chicken. About two hours before dinner Mom said, "How shoud we serve the ham tonight?!?"
We had dessert, though, tonight. Although I got a frozen cherry pie for dinner tomorrow, I couldn't resist trying Costco's version of Tiramisu, so I got some. It didn't take much to solicit Mom's opinion, after dinner, about the suitability of the Tiramisu over the possibility of cherry pie. After dessert tonight she decided, "Both." Needless to say, she received a second glipizide during dessert, tonight.
To bed early, for her: 2310. Light went off at 2340.

Full Stat Day:

A.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1230
    Reading:  121
A.M. Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1227
    BP:  128/62
    Pulse:  60

P.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2020
    Reading:  169
P.M. Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2020
    BP:  109/46
    Pulse:  62

Pretty short day for her. I was surprised when she decided, at 2230, that she wanted to retire. But, she was visibly tired, and satisfied, and happy, so I didn't fight her. I kept her up until 2300 rubbing her feet and putting her through her before-bed routine. Her light went out about 7 minutes ago, at 2315.
This morning I substituted a buffered adult aspirin for her usual 81 mg job. From the way she was moving, very slow, kind of cramped, she seemed to need it. She was also visibly not happy with the gray skies. The high BG just before dinner is because of the sinful cranberry scone from The Wildflower Bread Company. She had her second of three iron capsules at about 1830 with V-8 juice and peanuts.
"Just hits the spot," she commented.
Dinner was the first of several meal sized portions of HoneyBaked Ham that will be served probably through Monday of next week. Tonight it was simple ham sandwiches, ham heated in a skillet, "just mustard, a little, nothing else," on thin slices of home made white/wheat bread with chips and pickled asparagus spears.
If you're wondering about her lately low BP readings, yes, she's "running a little dry", as one of the neurologists called it in August of 2004, but she's having regular bowel movements, no shit rocks, so I'm not worried. I'd say, in all, per day, she gets just under two quarts of liquid, including the liquid in her food.
I did give her a second glipizide at dinner tonight. "For luck," I said, when I gave it to my mother.

BM Half Stat Day:

Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1420
    Reading:  111
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1418
    BP:  124/61
    Pulse:  55

I really did mean to take stats this evening, but dinner fell in the middle of that program about The Gospel of Judas, she had a Salisbury Steak TV dinner (she hardly ever gets those anymore; she requested "any TV dinner, you know what I like" for dinner when I told her I was going to the store to pick up half and Half; I, as I recall, didn't have anything, I don't think, I wasn't hungry, but somehow got too caught up in the show to take stats this evening. She ate dinner around 2130; a light lunch, V-8 juice, peanuts and her second iron supplement of the day, at 1830; no nap to speak of: She headed in but was back out in 20 minutes and didn't appear to ever have actually laid back on her bed; got all pills, now extras.
I wish I had've remembered. Because this morning's stats were so good, I was looking forward to this evening's stats.
Her Bowel Movement occurred at 2320: Fair volume; fair consistency, awfully smeary; very easy elimination; challenging clean-up.
She is in bed as I write, reading herself to sleep, ahhh, her light just went out at 2355; about 25 minutes after we got her into the bedroom.

BM Half 'n Half Stat Day:

A.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1407
    Reading:  135
Blood Pressure:
    Not taken

P.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2135
    Reading:  135
Blood Pressure:
    Not taken

Nope, that's not a mistake. Her BG was the same at both readings. No BP because the batteries showed low, the time was off and I was out of batteries. It's also not a mistake that I took her blood glucose at 1407. She was actually up at about 1340; I heard her and the cat "came out", letting me know that Mom was up. It took me awhile, after I realized that something was wrong with the BP monitor, that I was not going to be able to replace the batteries. In the meantime, assuming that I'd find batteries, I kept Mom in the bathroom, checking up on her, administering her pills, chatting her up, while I discovered we didn't have any more meter batteries.
Despite this, she did get up late this morning. I let it happen. She didn't have a nap until 1745, after we'd finished watching the new King Kong, with which she stayed, amazingly. She was finished with her nap at a little after 1900. She got V-8 juice, peanuts and her second iron capsule of the day. I'm not sure whether I'll give her all three, today. Depends how long she stays up.
For dinner she had a bowl full of chunky potato soup with sausage, onion, freshly chopped garlic, celery and sun dried tomatoes.
Her Bowel Movement occurred at 2240: Very good volume; good consistency; very easy elimination; somewhat smeary clean-up.
She retired at 2300. Her light was off by 2306. Tired. In a good mood all day today and tired.

BM Full Day Stats:

A.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1026
    Reading:  138
A.M. Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1022
    BP:  155/81
    Pulse:  70

P.M. Blood Glucose:
    Time:  2025
    Reading:  129
P.M. Blood Pressure:
    Time:  2025
    BP:  133/74
    Pulse:  57

So, yeah, I'm a little concerned about her BP, considering that she's been light on the fluids, lately, and absolutely no signs of CHF. Her evening BP is the second of two. The first, taken a mere two minutes previous, while I was disturbing her watching of the "new" Ten Commandments was 143/69; 61. So, you see, that was purely annoyance. The second time a commercial was playing.
She got all three iron supplements today; also, I substituted an adult buffered aspirin for the 81 mg she usually gets this morning, just because she seemed a bit more stiff than usual and I wanted her voluntary, exceedingly early arising (around 1000 on her own) to be a pleasant experience.
Her "lunch", which is now required because we need to work in the third iron supplement, occurred at 1815: V-8 juice and a 1 oz bag of salted peanuts, plus iron.
    Dinner: KFC chicken pot pies.
Headed for bed at 2220; light went out at 2250. So, I'm expecting an early (maybe earlier?) arising tomorrow.
Initial pronouncement? I think she needed the extra iron and it has already kicked in.
Her Bowel Movement occurred while she was awaiting her morning (which really was a morning this morning) bath, say around 1010: Fairly good volume; excellent consistency; very easy elimination; very easy clean-up.

PBM No Stats Were Taken:

It was a bizarre, lazy day for my mother, a concentrated computer day for me. We payed little attention to each other. She slept a lot. I got all her pills in, including the third iron, but she didn't awaken until 1400, took a two hour nap and remained up until 2330, light going off about midnight.
I insisted, when she awoke from her nap, that she have V-8 juice and her second iron tablet. She had something else, too. I can't remember what. She also hadn't finished her tea. I had her polish it off before dinner and she had a full cup of coffee before bed.
For dinner I served, let's see, oh yeah, I didn't eat anything. She had bacon and eggs. I offered toast and she suggested chips, so she got them.
Although she had only a Provisional Bowel Movement yesterday, a tiny turd ejected during bathing of which she was unaware, she was also pretty dehydrated all day long. I just didn't pay attention.
I can't predict when she might arise Tuesday. I'm not concerned about it.
No extra meds, although she probably could have used an adult buffered aspirin at breakfast instead of her 81 mg one.

BM Half Stat Day:

Blood Glucose:
    Time:  1424
    Reading:  138
Blood Pressure:
    Time:  1424
    BP:  139/72
    Pulse:  57

That's right, folks, she arose at about 1400, on her own. I shuffled to keep time with her but I was moving slow, too.
Today was a very laid back day. She spent most of it sleeping. Neither of us ate much. I served polish sausage for breakfast. No one ate much for lunch; nothing that I can remember. For dinner we split the rest of the banana bread, which made two small square pieces of banana cake.
She got most of her pills; all the important ones and all the Rx's, except she didn't get in two iron tablets; no additions, only subtractions.
Her Bowel Movement occurred immediately after sitting down naked on the toilet in the morning prior to bath time, about 1405: Good volume; excellent consistency; very easy elimination; very easy clean-up.
She stayed up in the general household until almost midnight. She read in bed until almost 0100, 4/10/06.
